Chairman's Welcome |
Wojtek J. Bock
Conference Chairman
It is indeed an honor and a privilege for me
to welcome you to Canada's Capital for the 14th Annual IEEE Instrumentation
& Measurement Technology Conference. The theme for this year's
Conference is "Sensing, Processing and Networking"
in recognition of the importance of information technologies to
the development and to the future of our beloved field of instrumentation
and measurement.
We decided to hold IMTC/97 at the historic
Chateau Laurier hotel, located in downtown Ottawa within a walking
distance to all the attractions of the city. The large number
of excellent papers that will be presented clearly demonstrate
the liveliness, intensity and importance of advanced world-wide
research in many diverse areas of Instrumentation and Measurement.
Our Organizing Committee is deeply convinced that the Conference
will offer an outstanding opportunity for a fruitful exchange
of ideas and will be personally and professionally rewarding for
many researchers from our global village.
The logistics of this Conference has required
input and effort from many people. On behalf of the Organizing
and Honorary Committees I would like to take this opportunity
to thank them all, and to thank those private and public organizations
who have supported the Conference.
