Bob Dony Spacer

Dr. Bob Dony

Bob Dony received his B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. degrees in systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 1986 and 1988 respectively. In 1995 he received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

From 1988 to 1991, he was with Imaging Research Inc., St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, developing bioscience oriented imaging systems. From 1995 to 1997 he was an assistant professor with the Department of Physics and Computing at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Since 1997 he has been with the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, teaching in the Engineering Systems and Computing program and the Biological Engineering program. He currently holds the rank of associate professor.

He is a licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.), a chartered engineer (C.Eng.), member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET). He has been quite involved in the engineering profession, being a member of the Academic Requirements Committee of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and a past board member of the Canadian Engineers Qualification Board of Engineers Canada. He has also been technical program co-chair of the Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2001 and 2008.

Dr. Dony's research interests include intelligent and adaptive signal and image processing methods with applications in the biological and biomedical fields. Recent projects have included audio signal processing for hearing aid applications, texture analysis and segmentation in ultrasound imaging applications, and multimodal image registration for CT and MRI images.
