IEEE Canada Areas
The local sections are grouped geographically into three areas (formerly councils) which usually meet virtually at least quarterly. Please see the rosters (access restricted) page for the names of the area volunteers. Some historical information about the sections is also available in the area history section.

Canada West Area
The Canada West Area is comprised of seven Sections. The Area management committee consists of an Area Chair and the seven Section chairs. The Area committee usually meets at least quarterly using virtual platforms before the Board Meetings. The Area committees may meet at the in-person meetings.
The purpose of the Area is to assist in the operation of its member Sections by facilitating cooperation and the sharing of ideas.

Triennial Project
The Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE) as well as the Canadian Electrical Power and Energy Conference (EPEC) are normally held in each of the three areas on a rotating basis.
