Engineering Institute of Canada Medals and Fellows

Back: IEEE Canada > Awards

Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) Logo The Engineering Institute of Canada elects annually a select number of engineers to the grade of EIC Fellow for their exceptional contributions to engineering in Canada. As IEEE Canada is one of the 10 member societies in EIC, our members qualify for this recognition and are often among those being elected. Additionally, EIC presents a range of Medals to further recognize member contributions. Generally, EIC Fellows are nominated for the EIC Medals.

The EIC Awards Gala is held annually (usually in Ottawa in March). The IEEE Canada Awards and Recognition Committee urges you to consider nominating (a) suitable candidates to be EIC Fellows and (b) EIC Fellows to be Medalists. See the Nomination Process.

EIC Fellows

The Engineering Institute of Canada elects annually a select number of engineers to the grade of EIC Fellow for their exceptional contributions to engineering in Canada. As IEEE Canada is one of the 10 member societies in EIC, our members are often among those being elected.

Nomination Process for EIC Fellows and Medals

In addition to a completed nomination form, two letters of support are required. The same forms are used for Fellow and Medal nominations. Generally, EIC Fellows are nominated for EIC Medals. The deadline for receipt of nominations and letters of endorsement is the middle of November. Please see the EIC website for more information on the nomination process and the nomination form.

One strategy for selecting suitable candidates to be nominated for selection as EIC Fellows is to use the list of Canadian IEEE Fellows who are not yet EIC Fellows. However, as noted above, the criteria for selection is much broader than that for IEEE Fellow elevation so that many additional IEEE Canada members qualify.
